A couple weeks ago Courtney Starr asked if she could use some of my images for a little documentary she was putting together for her college English class titled “Nudity in Photography.” She admits to wishing she knew how to use the technical equipment better, but the content is great! I love what Linda Palma has to say, she sums up my thoughts almost exactly.
I hope you enjoy it.
Awesome! Thoroughly enjoyed it, Jake!
Agree with Linda as well.
The shots are stunning too… great job!
Great website and blog.
This stuff is really helpful to someone just starting out.
Thanks!
Regarding “Nudity in Photography.” Why is the music so f’n loud? I can’t make out what she is saying.
Little late to be commenting on this one,but I love my two cents.It seems to me when we see nudes they are always of small petite women.Painters of the old era would paint plus size women because of the preference at the time.With women (today) in photography we see these small petite (fit) women(a lot of Jake’s work for example).They repersent a minority,so what you see is reality , yes is it a real reality? I say “nay”.Wiith men (nude) in ancient Greece and Rome we see small almost petite men who seem more girlish.With men in photography(nude) we see muscle bound (fit) men.Although each statment exsists in context of the era.It still for the most part represents a minority at the time.Porn can be whatever you want.Where you may see a woman’s breast as erotic, somone else may see the small of her back as erotic.Or his or her toes.Remember Mapplethorpe thought he was making art,other people cried foul,a movie “Dirty Pictures” starring Jame Woods was made about it I believe.In short, art is like a gun….somebody is always going to misuse it.Still a big fan Jake,just wanted my two cents in the bank.
mobile devices are always great because they always come in a handy package;
