Hey There.
Ive always been a huge fan of your work! I love the third shot with the skull accessories. The pose and lighting are just awesome. Then I also love the indian cloud shot. However, I almost wish the clouds werent on her and she popped out a bit more… almost like how youve done some of your other shots with the background looking like a backdrop. Muscles are macho is a good one. Love the overall feeling and feel of the shot. Then I LOVE the multiple arms shot .You amaze me.

Thanks Michael!
The fifth shot is so clear and honest, I like it
Greetings from Costa Rica
in this order:
k-256
k-407
k-345
I’m not a big fan of the washed out/low contrast effect you employed on most of the shots and 256 seems the most vibrant. It also has the most color, or at least the most vibrant color. In a few other shots she appears to be wearing fairly saturated colors (379, 247) but they are washed out and really blend her into the neutral background you are utilizing. She is a high contrast girl -light olive skin with dark dark hair and eyes- play that up more. Like you did with the high contrast vibrant red and white with 256.
That said, I like 407 because her pose and physique put her in contrast to the slogan on her shirt. It’s like visual math, she is not muscular, at all. And if we postulate that muscles=macho, then no muscles=no macho. Which is totally the case with your model Jessica. She is quite the opposite of macho. It brought a smile to my face when I saw it. Also, the vintage tee works well with the low contrast look you have going on in the series.
Finally, 345 is in the top three because of her pose and your composition. I’m a fan of the “far away look” when models aren’t looking at the camera. It brings a sense of mystery to the picture. What is she looking at? What is she thinking about? etc. I’m also a fan of triangles in photographs, and you have a few going on in this fairly simple photo.
I hope you get something out of my critique and explanation of the top three photos I like.

Love your thoughts James! Thanks. If you look at my past work you’ll see a LOT of images with high clarity and high saturation. Lately I’ve been exploring the polar opposite of that trying to figure out how to make it work well within my style, it’s something I don’t think I’ve quite figured out yet so I plan on exploring it a lot more. Part of the process of creating art, sometimes you need to step back and try something different even though the results won’t be quite as popular while you’re struggling to master it.
It’s a process I love!
The first three because they look very natural; the third because the theme is great and perfectly set up.
#1 & #4.
I love the expression on #5 but the neg space above the head thing I can’t get used to.
Good work as usual…I would have loved to see a chair or laying down pose with the one in her “macho” shirt, looking away – perhaps a window shot?
i really like the way you’re style has been branching out lately. the fifth one down is my favorite. simple and honest. great work as always!
I like number 2, with the hoodie, I used a similar effect a year or two back,I forget how I came to it.Just messing around in PS I guess.
An impressive share, I given this onto a colleague who had previously been doing little analysis for this. And he in reality bought me breakfast simply because I came across it for him.. smile. So well then, i’ll reword that: Thnx with the treat! But yeah Thnkx for spending plenty of time to talk about this, Personally i think strongly regarding it and adore reading much more about this topic. When possible, as you become expertise, do you mind updating your site with an increase of details? It’s extremely useful for me. Big thumb up just for this blog post!
