My name – Jacob Stacy Garn
You Can Call me Jake
Just over two years ago, on May 15th, 2007 my Great Grandpa, Stacy Garn, passed away. He was 100 years old and seriously one of the coolest guys I’ve ever known.
He was healthy and happy right up until a month or two before when, inexplicably, his health declined and he was finally bed ridden after a long active life. On a visit to his bedside he held my hand and tried so very hard to tell me so many things, it was a struggle for him to talk but his eyes said it all. It was obvious he didn’t want me to leave but it was just as obvious that he needed his rest, when I left we both had tears in our eyes. That was the last time I saw him alive.
Two days after he passed away I married my beautiful wife Jennifer. The timing seemed more than coincidental, he left his bed just in time to see us get married, but with enough advance notice that his funeral (which I wouldn’t miss for the world) finished just a couple hours before a plane took me and Jenny away on our honeymoon. Nobody had to miss anything.
On September 16th, 2009 Jenny gave birth to our very first child, Sawyer Stacy Garn. Every other time I’ve ever heard of babies being born I was always told the weight and length, and it never really meant anything to me… I just had nothing to reference it against. But now I do.
7 lbs, 13 oz and 21″ long, he’s a happy healthy little boy. And inexplicably he already found a best friend. Maybe little Sawyer Stacy just has one of those kind, love-able souls… I think he gets it from his Great-Great-Grandpa.
Regularly scheduled photography blog will resume shortly.

Hi Jacob (feels so odd calling you that). Wonderful story about your great grandpa. Love that photo of Sawyer & Dosh.
Congratulations to you and Jenny. Looking forward to meeting Sawyer.
Congrats Jake, I haven’t seen you since high school. How fun to catch up on your life! Your son is beautiful and I’m glad everyone is well.
Congratulations to you both!
I wonder how we are related to one another? I recently became aware of your photography and website – very nice work. I just wanted to know if there is a family connection. My dad is Senator Jake Garn (Edwin Jacob Garn) and his father was Jacob Edwin Garn. My older brother’s name is Jacob Wayne Garn. Anyway, just curious…

Hi Susan,
I think my Great Grandpa is cousins with the Senators Grandpa… or something like that. But I’m not sure!

Hi Susan,
I’m Jake’s wife and I happen to like to do look up family histories and this is what I found out:
Your dad’s great-great grandfather is John Garn from Bedford, PA 1778-1833.
John Garn is the great-great grandfather of Stacy Daniel Garn 1906-2007 (who is my husband’s great-grandfather.)
So, your great-great-great grandfather is Jake’s great-great-great-great-great-grandfather
