Pigtail Tees

I have a couple really close friends, Andy and Tara, and over the past 15 years we have spent insane amounts of time together... beyond just hanging out around town we've also traveled all over tarnation (Rome, Florence, Cancun, Paris, Monaco, Las Vegas, Switzerland, Amsterdam, Maui... just to name a handful) Over time we accumulated stories you would not dare to believe, we also accumulated a thousand ideas that made us laugh hysterically.  One of the many things we talked about were some quirky t-shirt ideas.  Well... after three years of work we finally got around to finishing the project. I...

Party Foul

Shooting Conceptually at the Salt Lake Art Center

I was invited to shoot some original creations by Michelle Boucher, a fabulously talented fashion designer and wardrobe stylist, as part of the Art Meets Fashion Event. This presents a great chance to talk a little bit about the role of a photographer in a shoot like this. I shoot for myself almost 90% of the time (meaning I shoot for fun, not for money).  I do have experience working for commercial clients though and obviously when someone else is paying for the shoot they generally have the final say.  If an employee from the client is on set then generally that is the art director or creative...

The Salt Lake Art Center Debacle

UPDATE: After I posted this Adam Price, Executive Director of the Salt Lake Art Center, invited me out for a drink. We had a very pleasant conversation and I realized he is actually a VERY cool guy.  He has been absolutely instrumental in many of Salt Lake City's biggest art projects and after hearing his side of the story I realized there really is more to the story than what I posted here.  I debated deleting this whole post but I think that would be unfair to everyone that commented, and supported me and my creative team.  I would like to say that after speaking to Adam Price I have a HUGE...

Photography Wonder!

Photography Wonder A new website with a public launch TODAY (October 8th, 2010)!  What's it all about?  At it's heart it's a 'question and answer resource' for photographers... with a twist. Users can ask, answer and most importantly VOTE on the best content! Someone posts a question and multiple people give an answer.  The answers with the most votes rise to the top (literally).  Old questions can be searched, new questions can be asked, or you can just browse all the past answers made by your favorite photographer. I invite anyone interested in photography (photography of ALL types) to sign-up...

Hitting the Reset Button

Long time readers of my blog will know that earlier this year (an internet year is the equivalent of 20 years in regular life) I made a few posts about trying to break out of a comfort-zone.  I was working with some of the most amazing talent in the nation and creating images that were blowing people away, but at the same time I felt like I was a bit on cruise control. 2010 Became the Year of the Test Shoots! I decided to take a bit of a break and get back to my roots, back to when I fell in love with photography and shoot some great ideas with nothing more than myself and a model and whatever...
